It all began in 2003 when the founder of Best Friend NYC, and his dog Chloe were spending summer by the ocean. Chloe was thrilled by the beach and would use every opportunity to chase seagulls in the sand, trying to catch fish in the saltwater and rolling around in seaweed like a sushi roll, day after day.

To keep Chloe smelling fresh and to rinse off sand and salt, he would wash her with a regular dog shampoo quite frequently. He soon discovered that most pet store dog supplies were extremely over-scented and contained non-biodegradable chemicals making them harsh and irritating on Chloe's gentle skin and coat. As an alternative the founder decided to try natural pet shampoos available in stores, but they did not lather well and seriously lacked in their cleansing properties.

Determined to find gentle yet effective natural dog grooming products, he took the challenge of developing a perfect solution for Chloe upon himself. With interest in natural beauty, aromatherapy and previous experience in premium skincare, the founder developed gentle dog grooming products for Chloe at home.

Over the years, these grooming formulas have proven to work and Chloe's beautiful coat became quite a topic of conversation. Everyone wanted to know what her beauty regimen was and she simply could not hide her secrets any longer ;). Several years later, the founder collaborated with a pet expert to enhance the original formulas with phytoactive essential oils, multivitamins and antioxidants. The result is the most natural, gentle, and effective dog  grooming regimen for every health-conscious modern dog.  And that's how Best Friend NYC was born.
